Valsetin 2 — Technical Data Sheet
Key performance data for Valsetin 2 — a low‑VOC silk wall system built around a tinted Primer 400 undercoat and thin silk coats. Use this sheet when specifying Valsetin 2 alongside Meteore 10 Intonaco, Klondike Classic and Sabulador Soft in architectural schemes.
NEXT‑GENERATION ITALIAN SILK WALL SYSTEM · LOW VOC · PART OF THE ARCHITECTURAL FINISHES FAMILY IN LONDON
Key specifications
| Finish | Silk‑like decorative coating with a directional satin sheen. Depending on the technique, patterns range from linear “brushed silk” to softer flowered / textile effects. |
| Use / type | Water‑based decorative system for interior walls and ceilings in residential, hospitality and commercial projects requiring a premium silk look and documented low‑VOC performance. |
| Chemistry & emissions |
Acrylic water‑borne binder with pearlescent and mineral components. VOC (ready to use): approx. 6–7 g/L (Cat. A/i) — well below EU limit. Indoor air quality: designed for A+ TVOC and extremely low formaldehyde emissions after curing. |
| Coverage (guide) |
On smooth, correctly primed substrates:

| System products |
Primer: VALPAINT PRIMER 400, tinted to match the selected Valsetin 2 shade.
Applied in one uniform coat to properly prepared substrates. Finish: Valsetin 2, normally 1–2 thin coats depending on opacity and desired effect, applied with trowel / spatula and worked to create the silk pattern. Optional upgrades: in higher‑stress zones (corridors, high‑traffic spaces), Valsetin 2 can be combined with V30 / Finish V16 as described in the Valsetin 2 Soft cycle documentation. |
| Drying / recoat |
At approx. 20 °C and 65 % RH:
|
| Recommended use |
Interior walls and ceilings in living rooms, bedrooms, entrance halls, corridors, hotel suites, boutiques, show flats
and reception areas. Keep to dry, ventilated zones. For fully waterproof decorative schemes in showers and wet rooms, use E‑VOLUTION PLUS as part of Waterproof Artistic Walls as the waterproof body, and carry related silk / textile languages into adjacent dry areas. |
| Substrates |
New or existing interior plasters, skimmed plasterboard and previously painted walls, provided they are:
|
| Colours | Tinted through the VALPAINT COLORI’ / VALCLONE system, giving a broad palette of neutral and chromatic silk tones. Primer 400 and Valsetin 2 are tinted in harmony for depth and uniformity. |
| Packaging | Supplied in professional pack sizes (e.g. 1 L, 2.5 L, 5 L). Confirm exact packaging at time of order with Italian Surface Finishes. |
Values are indicative and may vary with substrate, job‑site conditions and applicator technique. Always produce and approve a project‑specific sample panel before large‑scale work.
Compatible substrates
Valsetin 2 is suitable for most interior vertical substrates once they are correctly prepared. Typical examples:
- Gypsum plaster and skimmed plasterboard (fully cured and dry).
- Cement–lime plasters that are stable and free from efflorescence.
- Existing sound acrylic or vinyl paints, after cleaning and light abrasion.
Substrates must be sound, clean and cohesive. Remove loose or chalking coatings, repair cracks, fill imperfections and sand smooth. Apply Primer 400 to regulate absorption, unify colour and prepare the surface for the silk coats.
System build — Valsetin 2
The typical build‑up is:
-
1. Substrate preparation
Level, fill and sand as required. Remove dust, grease, unstable paint and contaminants. Ensure the surface is dry and uniformly absorbent. -
2. Tinted primer
Apply one even coat of Primer 400, tinted towards the selected Valsetin 2 colour, using roller or brush. Allow to dry fully. -
3. First Valsetin 2 coat
Apply a thin, continuous coat of Valsetin 2 with stainless‑steel trowel / spatula, spreading material evenly and removing excess. This creates the base silk film. -
4. Second coat & effect
Apply a second thin coat and, while workable, create the chosen effect (brushed silk, flowered, textile) by controlling stroke direction and pressure. Work wall‑by‑wall to maintain a wet edge. -
5. Optional Soft / V30 cycle
Where specified, follow the dedicated V30 / Finish V16 cycle to obtain a softer sheen and increased resistance as per the official Valsetin 2 documentation.
For complex geometries or large elevations (corridors, stair cores, double‑height spaces), on‑site mock‑ups are recommended to refine stroke language and stopping points before full installation.
Performance & maintenance
Performance notes
- Provides a durable decorative finish for internal walls and ceilings when applied over stable, suitably primed substrates.
- Intended for dry, ventilated interiors; not designed as a waterproof coating on its own.
- Works as part of the broader Italian Surface Finishes architecture, alongside Meteore 10, Klondike and Sabulador systems in the same project.
Cleaning & care
- Allow approximately 5–7 days for curing before first cleaning.
- Dust regularly with a soft cloth or microfibre duster.
- For marks, use a slightly damp, non‑abrasive cloth and mild neutral detergent. Avoid aggressive scrubbing, solvents, steam cleaning and abrasive pads which may burnish or damage the silk film.
Health, safety & environment
- Water‑based, low‑VOC formulation; ensure adequate ventilation during application and drying.
- Avoid contact with eyes and skin; wear suitable gloves, eye/face protection and work clothing.
- Do not ingest; keep out of reach of children and untrained personnel.
- Store in original, tightly closed containers between +5 °C and +30 °C; protect from frost and direct heat.
- Dispose of residues and empty containers according to local regulations; do not discharge into drains or waterways.
