System overview

Valrenna is a soft‑touch suede / leather‑look decorative finish that delivers a rich, tactile surface with subtle shading. Designed and made in Italy, it brings boutique luxury to feature walls in residential, retail and hospitality interiors.

The Valrenna system is built on a tinted primer and two coats of Valrenna, worked to create a textile nap:

  • Primer: Valpaint Primer 400, tinted to the target colour for uniform absorption.
  • First coat: Valrenna applied evenly to establish colour and base movement.
  • Second coat: Valrenna refined with brush or glove to create the suede / textile effect.
  • Optional protection: clear sealer in higher‑traffic areas where extra washability is required.

Always use this guide together with the Valrenna Technical Data Sheet for full performance, coverage and safety data.

Step‑by‑step method

  1. Surface preparation
Ensure the wall is clean, dry and smooth. Fill imperfections and sand to an even surface. Remove dust and contamination. Prime with the specified base (typically Primer 400 tinted) to equalise absorption and support the final colour.
  2. Base coat
Apply the tinted base evenly with a roller or brush, working in manageable areas. Lay off in a consistent direction. Allow to dry fully as per the technical data sheet before proceeding.
  3. Valrenna effect — first coat
Apply Valrenna with a soft brush or suede glove in short, overlapping strokes. Work wet‑to‑wet in sections, maintaining a steady rhythm and avoiding visible stop marks. This coat sets the underlying shading.
  4. Valrenna effect — final coat & unifying
Apply a second, thinner coat and, while workable, feather and cross‑blend lightly to achieve the characteristic suede shading and nap. For Buckskin, Shantung or Linen patterns, follow the directions in the official method, keeping movement consistent from corner to corner.
  5. Inspection & optional protection
Inspect under project lighting. Make any light corrections while the material is still workable. Once fully dry and cured, apply a compatible clear sealer in selected areas only if elevated washability is required, taking care not to overload and flatten the nap.

Professional tips

  • Use soft tools. Use soft synthetic brushes or an application glove; avoid heavy pressure to keep the pile effect even and refined.
  • Blend while wet. Blend edges while wet and vary stroke direction subtly to prevent visible joins or clumping of the nap.
  • Match project lighting. Evaluate the finish under the room’s final lighting — suede shading shifts with illumination and grazing light will emphasise the nap.
  • Work in pairs on large walls. On large or critical feature walls, one applicator can lay material while another feathers and unifies the direction.
  • Sample first. As with all high‑end decorative finishes, agree colour and texture on sample boards before starting multi‑room or commercial schemes.

Safety & environment

Valrenna is a water‑based, low‑VOC decorative system suitable for residential, commercial and hospitality interiors that prioritise air quality and durability.

  • Ensure adequate ventilation during application and drying.
  • Wear gloves, eye protection and suitable work clothing.
  • Store sealed between +5 °C and +30 °C; protect from frost and heat.
  • Do not wash tools into drains or watercourses; dispose of residues responsibly.
