System overview

Valrenna 2 is a soft‑touch suede / leather‑look decorative finish that delivers a rich, tactile surface with subtle shading and a calm matte reading. Designed and made in Italy, it refines the original Valrenna with smoother handling, higher yield and a codified tinted primer step for predictable tone.

The Valrenna 2 system is built on:

  • Primer 400 (tinted, 10–20 % dilution) for uniform absorption and tone.
  • Two coats of Valrenna 2 (10–20 % dilution) for body, shading and textile nap.
  • Optional clear protection in selected zones only where extra washability is required.

Always read this guide together with the Valrenna 2 Technical Data Sheet for full performance, coverage and safety data.

Step‑by‑step method

  1. Surface preparation
Ensure the wall is clean, dry and smooth. Fill imperfections and sand to a uniform surface. Remove dust and contaminants. Address any moisture issues before priming.
  2. Primer 400 (tinted)
Apply Primer 400, tinted to the target colour and diluted 10–20 % as indicated in the TDS. Use a roller for even coverage and allow to dry fully. This step anchors the tone and supports the suede effect.
  3. Valrenna 2 — first coat
Apply Valrenna 2 with a roller or brush at 10–20 % dilution. Work in manageable sections, maintaining a consistent thickness and light movement. Allow to dry completely before the second coat.
  4. Valrenna 2 — second coat & suede effect
Apply a thinner second coat. While workable, use a soft brush or suede glove in short, overlapping strokes to build the suede shading. For Buckskin or Linen techniques, follow the official pattern, keeping rhythm and direction consistent.
  5. Unifying & inspection
Feather joins while material is still open. Step back under project lighting and gently correct any visible marks or direction shifts before it locks.
  6. Optional clear protection
Once fully dry and cured, apply a compatible clear sealer in higher‑traffic areas only, keeping coats light so the nap and matte reading remain intact.

Professional tips

  • Use soft tools. Choose soft synthetic brushes or an application glove; excessive pressure can flatten the nap and make the finish look patchy.
  • Blend wet edges. Keep a wet edge and blend while workable; vary stroke direction subtly to avoid hard joins, but keep an overall agreed direction.
  • Work under final lighting. Evaluate under the room’s actual lighting — suede shading shifts between daylight and warm artificial light.
  • Pair work on big walls. On large feature walls, one applicator can lay material while another feathers and unifies the movement.
  • Sample first. As with all suede / textile finishes, agree colour and technique on sample boards before committing to multi‑room or commercial schemes.

Safety & environment

Valrenna 2 is a water‑based, low‑VOC decorative system suitable for residential, commercial and hospitality interiors that prioritise air quality and comfort.

  • Ensure adequate ventilation during application and drying.
  • Wear gloves, eye protection and suitable clothing.
  • Store sealed between +5 °C and +30 °C; protect from frost and heat.
  • Do not dispose of liquid material into drains or watercourses; follow local regulations.
