ITALIAN‑MADE VALPAINT SYSTEM · SPECIFIED, TINTED & SUPPORTED BY ITALIAN SURFACE FINISHES IN UK

Key specifications

Type Water‑borne decorative sandy coating for interior walls and ceilings.
Finish Sandy luminescent wall surface with controllable grain and movement — from soft, mineral Matt shimmer to more crystalline Lux highlights, depending on product choice and PV76 brushwork.
Binder Water‑based acrylic decorative system with mineral fillers and special pigments.
Appearance Fine sandy texture with visible movement and light‑catching grains. Under grazing light the finish recalls sunlit dunes or mineral velour rather than glitter.
Coverage* Approx. 8–9 m²/L (two coats) on smooth, primed substrates.
Actual coverage depends on substrate, dilution and pattern intensity.
Drying / recoat Touch dry: approx. 1 hour at 20 °C.
Recoat: approx. 3–4 hours at 20 °C.
Through dry: approx. 24 hours.
Full cure / washability: approx. 15 days under normal conditions.
Tinting Tinted using Valpaint’s system. All Sabulador tinting for the UK is carried out by Italian Surface Finishes in London to help catalogue boards, studio panels and site batches align under UK lighting.
Application tools PV76 artistic brush for Sabulador coats and re‑brushing; roller/brush for PRIMART 600 primer; standard masking and preparation tools.
Use Interior feature walls and ceilings in residential, retail and hospitality projects. As a decorative finish in dry/splash zones, or as the visible layer over Waterproof Artistic Walls build‑ups in wet zones.

*Coverage is indicative and will vary with substrate texture, absorption, dilution and desired effect. Always confirm via sample panels under project conditions.

Compatible substrates

Sabulador Lux & Matt are suitable for interior walls and ceilings when applied over properly prepared, primed substrates:

  • New gypsum plaster and skimmed plasterboard (fully cured, smooth and dry).
  • Prepared plasterboard with correctly treated joints and repairs.
  • Sound, previously painted surfaces (cleaned, de‑glossed and primed).
  • Interior masonry / render that is stable, dry and primed.

Substrates must be free from rising damp, efflorescence, loose coatings, dust and contaminants. Glossy or critical surfaces should be sanded or otherwise keyed and then primed with PRIMART 600. For complex substrates please consult Italian Surface Finishes.

System build — Sabulador Lux & Matt

The exact specification can vary with colour and project, but a typical Sabulador Lux or Matt wall system is:

  1. Substrate preparation — fill, skim and sand to a smooth finish. Remove loose paint and contaminants; de‑dust carefully.
  2. Primer — PRIMART 600 — apply 1–2 coats depending on substrate absorbency (see Application Guide for dilutions). Allow each coat to dry thoroughly.
  3. First Sabulador coat (Lux or Matt) — apply a thin, even coat with the PV76 artistic brush, working in manageable areas to create a continuous sandy film.
  4. Second Sabulador coat — after 3–4 hours, apply the second coat with PV76 in the same way, keeping a wet edge and working wall‑by‑wall.
  5. Re‑brushing — after 5–10 minutes (depending on conditions), lightly re‑brush with a clean, dry PV76 to align grains and create the desired dunes, ripples or directional strokes.
  6. Optional clear protection — after full cure, a compatible clear protective finish may be used in higher‑wear areas to improve cleanability.

Where Sabulador is used as the visible finish over Waterproof Artistic Walls, the substrate, waterproof build‑up, reinforcement and detailing are defined within the relevant E‑VOLUTION PLUS or associated system documentation.

Performance & maintenance

Performance notes

  • Provides a durable decorative film on vertical interior surfaces when applied over stable, suitably primed substrates.
  • Designed for residential, retail and hospitality interiors where sandy luminescent feature walls are desired.
  • Not intended as a stand‑alone waterproof membrane for continuously wet zones; for such areas, use within Waterproof Artistic Walls build‑ups.

Cleaning & care

  • Allow approximately 15 days for full curing before first cleaning.
  • Dust regularly with a soft cloth, microfibre or feather duster.
  • For marks, wipe gently with a damp cloth and mild neutral detergent. Avoid aggressive scrubbing that could burnish the sandy film or alter sheen.
  • Avoid abrasive pads, scouring powders, bleach and solvent‑based cleaners.

Health, safety & environment

  • Water‑borne decorative coating with low VOC content; Matt version with very low TVOC intent.
  • Ensure adequate ventilation during application and drying.
  • Avoid contact with skin and eyes; wear suitable gloves and eye protection.
  • Do not ingest. Keep out of reach of children.
  • Store between +5 °C and +30 °C in original, closed containers. Protect from frost and direct heat.
  • Do not pour residues or wash‑water into drains or watercourses; dispose of according to local regulations.
  • Consult the Valpaint Safety Data Sheet (SDS) for full safety information.
