Key specifications

Product group Meteore 10 — natural, water‑based textured coating for interior and exterior use, formulated to reproduce marble, concrete and plaster effects. Marmorizzato is the marble‑effect cycle within this designer plaster family.
Composition Lime‑based mineral decorative coating in water dispersion, free from added solvents and isocyanates, with very low VOC and formaldehyde emissions. Used in a system with Sabulador Soft metallic glaze and optional Finish V 18 clear protective coat.
Appearance Layered marble‑effect plaster finish with oblique veining, depth and tonal movement. Sheen ranges from honed stone to polished marmorino, depending on compression and any protective coat used.
Specific gravity Approx. 1.58 kg/L at 20 °C (Meteore 10 base).
Coverage (indicative)*
  • Meteore 10: approx. 1–1.5 m²/L in one continuous coat on smooth substrates.
  • Primer 1200: approx. 8–10 m²/L per coat.
  • Sabulador Soft: approx. 14–16 m²/L for two full‑coverage coats.
  • Finish V 18: approx. 12–15 m²/L per coat.
VOC & emissions
  • VOC: low VOC content, compliant with EU decorative‑coatings limits.
  • Formaldehyde emissions: very low; suitable for high indoor‑air‑quality interiors when used as directed.
Use Interior walls and selected ceilings in residential, hospitality and commercial interiors. Not designed for permanent immersion, constantly wet zones or floors.

*Values are indicative and may vary with substrate absorption, application method and site conditions. Always confirm coverage and visual effect on a representative sample panel before large‑scale work.

Compatible substrates

Marmorizzato is suitable for most sound, interior wall substrates, provided they are prepared correctly:

  • New gypsum plaster and skim‑coated plasterboard (fully cured, smooth and dust‑free).
  • Cement / lime plasters and mineral base coats.
  • Existing painted walls (stable, degreased, lightly abraded, primed).

Substrates must be flat, smooth, dry and uniform in absorption. Remove loose paint, dust, efflorescence and contaminants; stabilise friable areas with an appropriate fixative before applying Primer 1200.

System build — Marmorizzato cycle

The Marmorizzato system combines a lime‑based Meteore 10 base with metallic/pearlescent glazing where required. Below is a typical cycle; confirm any project‑specific variations with Italian Surface Finishes.

  • Primer 1200 (white) — apply 1 coat with roller, brush or spray to regulate absorption and provide a uniform white base. Typically diluted 15–20 % with clean water. Allow to dry (approx. 6 hours at 20 °C).
  • Meteore 10 (marble base) — apply a continuous coat across the whole area with a stainless‑steel trowel, covering uniformly without excessive thickness. This forms the mineral body and base movement for the marble effect.
  • Veining & movement — while Meteore 10 is still workable, create irregular bands and veining using controlled strokes and returns, then smooth and compact as the surface begins to firm. This establishes the stone reading and light direction.
  • Sabulador Soft (metallic glaze) — after full drying of the Meteore 10 base (typically 24 hours at 20 °C), apply two full‑coverage coats of Sabulador Soft in the specified metallic or pearlescent tone, lightly diluted as per its TDS. A third selective pass can be used to tune contrast between veins and field areas.
  • Optional protection — Finish V 18 — once the glazing is completely dry, apply 1–2 coats of Finish V 18 (Gloss or Matt) by roller, brush or spray where higher water resistance and washability are required, particularly in stair cores, corridors and commercial spaces.

Drying & curing

  • Primer 1200: re‑coat after approx. 6 hours at 20 °C.
  • Meteore 10: touch dry in a few hours; overcoatable with Sabulador Soft after approx. 24 hours.
  • Sabulador Soft: recoatable after roughly 4 hours between coats.
  • Finish V 18: recoatable after approx. 4 hours.
  • Full mineral cure: Meteore 10 reaches complete hardness after approx. 28 days at 20 °C.

Drying times extend at lower temperatures or higher humidity. Avoid condensation, strong draughts and aggressive cleaning until full cure is achieved.

Maintenance & cleaning

Meteore 10 Marmorizzato combined with Sabulador Soft forms a slightly washable decorative system. Applying Finish V 18 improves resistance to water and everyday cleaning.

  • Dust regularly with a soft, dry cloth or vacuum with a soft brush attachment.
  • Where sealed, clean gently using a damp cloth and mild neutral detergent.
  • Avoid abrasive pads, scouring powders, strong alkalis, acids or solvent‑based cleaners.
  • Do not subject freshly applied work to heavy washing or impact before full cure.

Health, safety & project resources

Meteore 10 Marmorizzato is a water‑based, low‑VOC mineral system with very low formaldehyde emissions. Use standard good practice for decorative mineral coatings:

  • Apply in well‑ventilated areas; avoid direct contact with skin and eyes.
  • Wear gloves, eye protection and suitable work clothing.
  • Application temperature typically between +10 °C and +30 °C.
  • Store in tightly closed original containers between +10 °C and +30 °C; protect from frost and direct sun.
  • Do not wash tools into drains or watercourses; dispose of residues according to local regulations.
