Meteore 10 Cemento — FAQ
Answers to the questions designers, architects, contractors and homeowners ask most about this concrete effect plaster — how it differs from paint, where it can be used, and how it connects to continuous systems for floors and wet areas.

How to read this FAQ
Meteore 10 Cemento is a lime‑based decorative concrete system used when you want serious architectural concrete on walls — not a pattern rolled into paint. This page is written for anyone searching for terms such as concrete effect plaster UK, decorative concrete wall finish, architectural concrete plaster, raw concrete look or concrete effect render UK.
The questions are grouped into four areas: what the product is, how it behaves, where it can be used and what to do next if you are working on a live project.
Understanding Meteore 10 Cemento
What sort of product is Meteore 10 Cemento?
It is a lime–mineral decorative coating designed to reproduce cast concrete on walls. Two trowelled coats of Meteore 10 build the mineral body; the surface is then finished with C100 OVER cement glaze and, where needed, Finish V 18 clear coat.
The result is a breathable, mineral architectural concrete plaster rather than a simple “concrete colour” paint.
How is it different from “concrete look” paints?
Many decorative paints only copy the colour of concrete. Meteore 10 Cemento builds a physical mineral layer:
- real pores and trowel movement, not printed pattern;
- a subtle cement sheen from C100 OVER, not plastic shine;
- a surface that reads as a concrete skin under grazing light.
For projects where concrete is part of the architecture, this difference is visible the moment you stand in front of the wall.
Is Meteore 10 Cemento a microcement?
No. Meteore 10 Cemento is a decorative wall system for interior walls and selected façades. It is not a structural screed or floor system.
For continuous bathrooms, wet rooms and floors we move to the dedicated waterproof microcement bodies and carry the “Cemento” reading into those systems via Waterproof Artistic Walls.
Where does Cemento sit inside the wider mineral family?
The Meteore 10 family has three main directions:
- Cemento — concrete / architectural concrete;
- Intonaco — stone / lime plaster;
- Marmorizzato — marble / marmorino and veined stone.
Many schemes use all three: Cemento for concrete walls, Intonaco for calmer circulation spaces and Marmorizzato for more expressive areas.
Application, substrates & performance
What is the basic application cycle?
A typical wall system is:
- Primer 1200 to control absorption.
- Meteore 10 Cemento — first coat for coverage and body.
- Meteore 10 Cemento — second coat for texture and concrete movement.
- C100 OVER cement-effect glaze to unify tone and improve resistance.
- Finish V 18 (optional) in high‑wear or splash zones.
The full sequence is explained step‑by‑step in the application guide.
What substrates are suitable?
Most sound, dry mineral and gypsum substrates are suitable once prepared correctly:
- new gypsum plaster and plasterboard, fully cured;
- cementitious and lime plasters, mineral renders;
- concrete and masonry free from rising damp;
- stable, well‑prepared previously painted surfaces.
Substrates must be clean, level, free of movement and primed with Primer 1200.
Can it go over tiles or into showers?
Over existing tiles, we normally move to a continuous waterproof system and take the Cemento aesthetic into that body rather than applying Meteore 10 directly.
Inside shower cabins and wet rooms, use the dedicated waterproof microcement bodies described under Waterproof Artistic Walls so that the technical build‑up matches the zone.
How durable and cleanable is the finish?
With C100 OVER and, where required, Finish V 18, the surface becomes a robust, washable decorative concrete wall finish suitable for residential living spaces and many hospitality / retail interiors.
Cleaning is with a soft cloth and mild neutral detergent; avoid harsh chemicals and abrasives.
What about fire rating, VOC and breathability?
The system is water‑based, low VOC and vapour‑permeable, with Class A1 reaction‑to‑fire for Meteore 10 and C100 OVER.
Full figures are listed in the technical data sheet.
Maintenance, lifespan & specification
How is damage repaired?
Local repairs are normally possible. Trained applicators can re‑work small areas with fresh material, re‑glaze with C100 OVER and re‑seal where required so that the wall reads as a continuous surface again.
How long will the finish last?
When installed over a stable substrate and maintained sensibly, the system behaves like other specification‑grade mineral finishes: the lifespan is measured in years, and in many cases decades, rather than seasons.
How do I write it into a UK specification?
A typical line might read:
“Meteore 10 Cemento concrete‑effect lime plaster by Valpaint, supplied and supported in the UK by Italian Surface Finishes. System: Primer 1200 (1 × coat) + Meteore 10 Cemento (2 × trowelled coats to approved texture) + C100 OVER cement‑effect glaze with optional Finish V 18 clear protective coat to exposed areas.”
